OLD WALLS – NEW ART
at asisi Panorama Berlin
1 – 14 October 2022
To mark the 10th anniversary of the asisi Panorama Berlin, Studio asisi and the NFT Club Berlin are presenting a special exhibition of digital works by well-known and up-and-coming international artists. From 1 to 14 October 2022,
13 artists will show their contributions on large-scale screens in the exhibition venue at Checkpoint Charlie under the motto “BETWEEN WORLDS: Old Walls – New Art”.
After an artist call lasting several weeks, the most relevant works were selected by a jury from Studio asisi and the NFT Club Berlin for presentation in the accompanying exhibition of the panorama DIE MAUER. The works were minted on the NFT marketplace formfunction.xyz and, as unique digital pieces, are intended to enrich the modern artistic examination of current conflicts, border- and refugee crises with a new variety of media formats.
By combining the panorama installation on the Berlin Wall by Yadegar Asisi with an exhibition of thematically related, digital works, BETWEEN WORLDS thus creates a place that foregrounds neither the digital nor the analogue, neither the past nor the contemporary, but combines both and brings people together in their enthusiasm for the diversity of art.

asisi Panorama Berlin
In a specially constructed circular building in Berlin-Mitte, the asisi Panorama Berlin, located in the immediate vicinity of the former death strip and the Checkpoint Charlie border crossing, the monumental panorama DIE MAUER (the Berlin wall) shows on 900 square metres everyday life in the Kreuzberg district of West Berlin in the 1980s. From a four-metre-high visitor platform, visitors experience the perfect illusion of this period of Berlin‘s history, which is barely visible in the cityscape today. Since the exhibition venue opened in 2012, almost 1.4 million people have already seen the exhibition in 10 years, with its depiction of the fascinating vibrancy of the colourful neighbourhood population on the death strip made up of partying punks, students, amazed tourists and guest workers.
